Wait! What are we thinking? Our giant Doberman puppy would probably really love to sink her teeth into a newborn chewy toy. We head off to consult Bruce, our dog trainer.Bruce hands me a live rabbit wrapped in a baby blanket. We pretend this is Sam and say stern things to Lexie who is wriggling from head to tail. The rabbit nearly has a heart attack.
Once Lexie is thoroughly confused, we microwave beef burritos and stuff them in Sammy's future diapers, then drop them in front of her and order "off"! Lexie is very confused about all of this training. Finally she curls up on the step (inching as near to the bunny as she's allowed) and looks deeply forlorn.
